Austin Seminary for Beginners

Everything feels very fragile right now.

I'm stealing this from a classmate of mine because I think it perfectly describes how things are going right now. I started classes at Austin Seminary last week and yes, everything feels very fragile right now. Not in a bad way, but in a new baby kind of way. I'm excited about all the things I'm learning (even Hebrew), overwhelmed by all the commitments I already have and I'm trying to figure out what time for me looks like.

Here are things I have to do

  • attend class
  • be a leader on and off campus (per my fellowship requirement)
  • maintain a 3.5 GPA (and all the studying, homework, paper writing and test taking that entails)
  • laundry
  • consume food
Here are things I would like to do
  • Get ahead in my required readings
  • go swimming 3-5/week
  • join a ceramic class
  • cook the food that I am consuming
  • have some kind of social life outside of school
  • not get sick

Right now I'm managing the first list and I'm slowly building up to the second list. I think that my plan is to just lay down some roots and grow from there. Wish me luck.
